Learning To Drive

My aim is for you to enjoy being a good and safe driver, not just pass the test.  Driving is a skill you have for life and if you do it well, you’ll enjoy it more.

I am calm and patient. I follow the tried and tested DSA methods of instruction.  That means it’s tailored to your needs.  Learning to drive might not always be easy, but with a little bit of hard work, you’ll reap the benefits, however I want you to enjoy it.

I have been driving for many years.  I have driven all over the UK ranging from Central London to the Highlands – all types of roads and traffic conditions.   I want you to have the confidence to drive where and when you want – and do it well and safely.

The driving test consists of two parts – Theory and Practical.  The theory part requires some homework, but I can teach you both if required.  My lessons normally last 1 hour, but if you live in a rural location, you might benefit from having 2 hour lessons.  This is because it can take time to get to the town areas where you will need to learn a lot of the essential skills.  2 hour lessons also work out cheaper.

To help you, I have a variety of informative DSA books and DVD’s available for purchase at a discount.

Pass Plus

Pass Plus is for people who have already passed their test and want more experience early on in their driving.  It must be completed within 12 months of passing their test.  The course has been specially designed by the Driving Standards Agency in conjunction with the driving instruction industry and insurance companies.  If you pass the course, you may be able to secure cheaper insurance premiums.

Pass Plus consists of 6 modules which each take at least an hour to complete.  These include driving in town, rural roads, dual carriageways, motorways, driving at night and in all weathers.   This may involve longer trips in order to gain the experience required.  That may mean a lesson of more than 1 hour.

There is no test at the end, but you are continually assessed by me.  Your aim is to reach an “Achieved” or Exceeded” status for each module.

Council grants are available in certain areas to help with the cost.  Please contact me for more information.
